Cora Sverdrup

Ocean Resilience Program Field Technician

Cora Sverdrup

Cora joined The Bay Foundation as a Field Technician with the Ocean Resilience Program in May of 2025. She discovered her passion for ocean conservation and coastal restoration early in her undergraduate career, where she researched novel kelp forest restoration and aquaculture methods, and pursued scientific diving. For her senior thesis, she conducted an interdisciplinary study on the relationship between kelp forest restoration and the red urchin fishery in Southern California. Cora received a B.A. in Environmental Studies and a B.A. in Anthropology from the University of Southern California in 2024. After graduating, Cora assisted the USC Wrigley Institute’s many educational and scientific dive operations as a staff resource diver. She spent much of her free time volunteering with TBF in its kelp forest restoration effort. Now, Cora primarily supports TBF’s field operations within its abalone recovery, kelp forest restoration, and eelgrass restoration initiatives. When she isn’t splashing around in the ocean, you can find her hiking, reading, exploring L.A., and ripping it on the saxophone.
