Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Statement

The Bay Foundation is committed to justice, equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility for all.

The Bay Foundation’s (TBF) mission is to restore and enhance Santa Monica Bay and its watershed. Our commitment to this work includes fostering, cultivating, and valuing justice, diversity, equity, and inclusion. Equity is foundational to our operations and culture. Internally, we value each person and the unique perspective and capabilities that they bring to TBF. Through our programs and external partnerships, we strive to meaningfully engage diverse communities and support projects that provide direct and indirect benefits to the culturally diverse residents and visitors of Santa Monica Bay and Los Angeles.

  • We acknowledge that environmental issues are linked to social injustices and recognize that historically underrepresented groups experience disproportionate environmental impacts and have been excluded from the processes and benefits associated with environmental improvements.
  • We recognize that TBF needs to play a more active role in addressing environmental justice.

By prioritizing equity, we aim to improve our current and future programs to reflect the needs of historically underrepresented groups and support resilient communities.

Identifying and addressing social and environmental inequities in our work will enhance our ability to restore the Santa Monica Bay through actions and partnerships that improve water quality, conserve, and rehabilitate natural resources, and protect the Bay’s benefits and values for all.
